DESCRIPTION

The small steel square that is worn like a bracelet.

Le Caprice is the feminine line of Altanus, a Geneva-based maison that is still in business today. The idea of this model is simple and successful: the square case is not placed on top of the bracelet, but embedded within it, so that on the wrist the watch looks like a continuous steel jewel.

The integrated construction is the feature that distinguishes the model. The H-shaped links in satin-finished steel flow seamlessly into the case, and the deployant clasp with side buttons, marked with the “a” of Altanus, disappears under the wrist. There are no lugs: the watch and the bracelet are a single piece.

This piece is a NOS, New Old Stock: it is not a used watch, but a piece never sold, which remained in our inventory from the years when the jewelry store was an official Altanus retailer. This is confirmed by the factory protective film, still applied to the case back with its red strip, and the blue oval Altanus Genève tag, still attached to the bracelet with the original blue thread.

Having been official retailers, you also have the issue of direct provenance: you can say that the box and warranty are those delivered by the brand to the jewelry store, not a set recovered later. For a niche brand like Altanus, where the buyer does not have many references, this counts more than the price.

The case
Square stainless steel case measuring 20x20 mm, with a satin finish and a profile integrated into the bracelet. Side knurled crown. Steel case back with the engravings “STAINLESS STEEL”, “WATER RESISTANT”, “3 ATM”, “Le Caprice by Altanus” and the number 16062. Water resistance 3 ATM: resistant to splashes, not to immersion.

The dial
White dial with a thin gold frame. Black bar indices at 3, 6, and 9. Two black hands for hours and minutes, without a seconds hand. On the dial: “Le Caprice de Altanus” in cursive and, below, “Quartz”.

The movement
Two-hand quartz movement. It does not require winding: it runs on a battery and maintains precision without daily maintenance.

The bracelet
Integrated stainless steel bracelet with H-shaped links, with a satin finish. Steel deployant clasp with side safety buttons and the engraved “a” logo of Altanus. Never used.

Operating condition
The battery has been replaced and the watch is working. The factory film on the case back and the tag still attached confirm its NOS condition.
