Longines Admiral 5 Star Day-Date, reference 7404, in 38 mm steel with bidirectional rotating bezel, screw-down case back and crown. It houses the Longines L636.5 automatic movement (based on the ETA 2836-2), with day-of-the-week and date displays at 3 o'clock. Black dial with cream-colored Arabic numerals and the five stars of the Admiral line. It is NOS (New Old Stock): never sold, it has remained in our warehouse inventory for over twenty years, still with the original Longines tag attached to the strap. It comes with the original Longines box. Original green leather strap with a Longines-signed deployment clasp. Serial number 26134474.

DESCRIPTION

Longines' sports watch of the 1990s: five stars, rotating bezel and day-date

The Admiral is Longines' sports line, created in the 1960s. The five stars on the dial are the signature of the series. This 7404 interprets it with an action-watch feel: rotating bezel with a minute scale, large and clearly legible Arabic numerals, and a 38 mm steel case. A contemporary size that still looks great today.

The bidirectional rotating bezel allows you to time intervals at a glance. The screw-down case back and screw-down crown are those of a watch built for everyday wear, not to stay in a display case.

This piece is NOS, New Old Stock: it is not a used watch, but a piece that was never sold and has remained in our warehouse inventory for over twenty years. We are official Longines retailers. As proof of its origin, the original Longines tag is still attached to the strap, with the retail price of the time handwritten: 1,570,000 lire.

The case
Steel, round, 38 mm excluding the crown. Bidirectional rotating bezel in satin-finished steel with a knurled edge and 10-20-30-40-50 graduated scale, with black numerals. Longines-signed screw-down crown. The screw-down case back features the Longines logo in relief, with the globe and winged hourglass; the serial number "26134474" is engraved on the inner edge, below the logo. Sapphire crystal. Water resistance: 3 ATM.

The dial
Black, with cream-colored Arabic numerals and slim markers on the edge. White hour and minute hands, long and slim grey central seconds hand. At 3 o'clock, the day-of-the-week and date window (the day is indicated in Spanish). On the dial: Longines logo, five stars, "Admiral" and "Swiss Made" inscriptions.

The movement
Automatic, Longines caliber L636.5, derived from the ETA 2836-2. It is a widely used movement that can be serviced by any watchmaker, with spare parts still available. Functions: hours, minutes, central seconds, day, date.

The strap
Green leather with a fine-grained embossed texture and green stitching. The underside is light-colored leather with the "LONGINES" imprint. Steel deployment clasp with a Longines medallion. It has never been worn.

Operating condition
NOS watch that has never been worn, with the original tag still attached. All functions are operational.

Transparency note: the strap has aged after over twenty years in storage. It shows light halos and stains on the outer side and marks on the underside that we were unable to remove. These are not due to wear, as the watch has never been worn, but from the natural deterioration of the material over time. The case back has two small scratches at the top left. As this model is over twenty years old, Longines does not provide an official warranty on these pieces: the watch is covered by our jewelry store's warranty. These conditions are already reflected in the price.
