DESCRIPTION

The Seiko chronograph with racing character and retrograde counters.

The Sportura line is Seiko's sports collection, designed for those who want a chronograph with a strong personality. This SPC039P1 is a successful example: a solid case with four exposed screws on the bezel, deep black and orange contrasts that make every function readable at a glance.

The distinctive feature is the double retrograde chronograph. The counters do not rotate around themselves: the orange hands advance along an arc of the scale and, at the end of their travel, snap back to zero. The chronograph measures up to 100 minutes, with 1/5-second increments, repeatable up to 300 minutes, and features a split-time function. Even those unfamiliar with the brand can tell immediately: it is a watch to be seen in action.

This piece is NOS, New Old Stock: it is not a used watch, but a piece that was never sold and remained in our warehouse inventory from the years when the jewelry store was an official Seiko retailer. The evidence can be seen in the photos: the blue protective film is still on the case back and the transparent film is still on the deployant clasp. 

The case
Round 42 mm stainless steel case with black IP coating. The black bezel features an orange tachymeter scale and four exposed screws at the corners. Black crown and black knurled chronograph pushers. Sapphire crystal. Exposed steel case back, with "SEIKO" engraved in the center and, all around, "STAINLESS STEEL SAPPHIRE CRYSTAL MOVEMENT JAPAN", "WATER RESISTANT 10 BAR", "7T85-0AA0" and the number 870677. Water resistance of 10 bar.

The dial
Grey dial with a graphite-textured finish, structured on multiple levels. Applied white indices, with the printed minute scale and white numerals on the edge (5, 10, 15 … 60). Chronograph counter at 12 o'clock with an orange scale, counter at 6 o'clock with a 0–100 scale, small seconds at 9 o'clock. Date display at 6 o'clock. White hour and minute hands, orange central chronograph hand and counter hands. On the dial: "SEIKO", "Sportura", "CHRONOGRAPH", "100M" and "JAPAN".

The movement
Caliber 7T85 quartz, a Japanese-made Seiko movement, with the reference engraved on the case back. Functions: hours, minutes and seconds, date display, double retrograde chronograph measuring up to 100 minutes with 1/5-second accuracy, split-time. Quartz movement, therefore accurate and without manual winding. It is a Seiko caliber, serviceable and with readily available spare parts.

The bracelet
Stainless steel link bracelet, with the "4A281 B C" marking visible on the inside. Deployant clasp with safety buttons, with the engraved SEIKO logo. Never used.

Operating condition
The battery has just been replaced and the watch is working. The factory films and tags still present confirm its NOS condition.

Transparency note: the official Seiko box and warranty are not present. The watch comes with a Gioielleria Cola 1890 box and a 24-month Gioielleria Cola 1890 warranty. The lack of the original Seiko set is already reflected in the price.
